The Incident Commanders' Radio Interface (ICRI) expands its usefulness with the addition of it's Extension Cable/Reel (EC/R). The EC/R permits an agency's radio in conventional/talk around mode to be moved 250 feet into the area of poor signal -- a mall, high rise, basement, tunnel, etc. When the responders in the area transmit on their handheld radios, they are only transmitting to the radio affixed to the reel. The radio via the cable passes the first responder's communications out to the ICRI where it is retransmitted to command and other support personnel. Linking cables can be done without hand tools so that tunnel entries of 2,000 feet can be accomplished without loss of communications between the entry team and command.
